Silky Oak Country Club is a sister golf course to St. Andrews 2000 and also Rayong Green Valley and they all share the same clubhouse.  The course itself is quite far from the clubhouse and takes about 15 minutes by golf cart so make sure you arrive in plenty of time for your tee time.

This is not a premium course but it’s ideal for beginners and high handicappers who are looking for somewhere to play without too much pressure – it also incredible value for money and one of the cheapest golf courses in Pattaya. Maintenance is a little bit inconsistent, especially during the dry season, when they have issues with water, and you should check with us before booking a round here. Silky Oak gets its name from the trees that have been planted around the course which are usually native to Australia and in certain lighting conditions the silver backed leaves can look like silk.

Silky Oak is a pretty standard 72-hole layout measuring just over 7000 hours which is quite short when compared to the other two courses in this family.  Not too much trouble on the course with generous fairways and forgiving greens.  You also get some great views as you get to the top part of the course – especially from the halfway house.  The course is generally pretty easy and its main defence are the many elevation changes which can lead to uneven lies and water comes into play on at least eight of the holes.

The pick of the holes are the 4th and the 13th which are both doglegs and you have to play over water twice in order to get on the green.

The clubhouse is dingy and old-fashioned and in need of a renovation but the lockers room and  the restaurant are adequate.

Silky Oak Country Club

The course was in excellent condition - greens a little slower than expected but had a great time

Reviewed by ; on
Great time had on and off the golf course (above expectations). Had a good day with my caddy Suay, very knowledgeable and super friendly. If there was a negative, the locker room attendant seemed a bit rude, maybe he was having a bad day - just a minor detail, getting to the course was a little confusing but managed to eventually get there.

Good and enjoyable course to play with panoramic views of the surrounding Hills

Thoroughly enjoyed our round. Interesting and well designed course although the tee blocks and greens could have been in better condition. The Club house is remote and very tired but adequate changing facilities. However, for BHT700 this must be the best value for money in Pattaya.

Never played until now, big surprise....

There is one reception for 3 courses, but working quite quick and friendly. A lot of players at starting point huzzling around, but after about 10 Minutes driving by cart to the first tee I liked this course a lot. Itcovers a large area in great nature, so a cart is obligatory. I liked this course so much because of the many height-differences, going up and down with excellent views. There's a great located house on top of a hill, combined with a Par 3, excellent location with a 360 degree-panorama view. In some comments this course is called the easiest one of the three, suitable to beginners an high handicappers. But there were difficult first strokes, you have to play at least 150 meters carry. As I couldn't play the driver because of shoulder problems, two times i chose the yello marks, but in general I lost two balls on this course. You are also "confrontated" with a lot of waterhazards, I like it, very comfortable pace of play, only 15 minutes waiting on the ten, starting flights from there beacause of the high season. I think, in low season there won't be many players, anyway it was a very nice golf day with an very changing course and a nice caddy. Will come again.

Silky Oak Country Club

Silky Oak is a poorly managed course.

Reviewed by ; on
Rather bad experience of a central organization for three courses in one reception. The staff (reception, starter and caddie, et al) spoke very little English, which made communication difficult. Basically, the caddie did whatever she wanted, e.g. she always pushed the flight in front to let me pass but I did not want to rush as I was on holiday here. The caddie skipped hole 13 without talking to me at all and only came back to play that hole before we headed back to the clubhouse. Throughout the game, the caddie was long-faced. Construction sites of houses spread along the course in many holes. Many tee boxes are desert-like. Fairways are full of overgrown unwanted grasses. Greens are rough and bumpy. Cartways are muddy and rubbish, mostly empty bottles, are seen everywhere. Do not recommend it to anyone.
