The Emerald Golf club which is set into the mountains just outside Rayong has the potential to be one of the better golf courses in Pattaya as Nick Faldo and Desmond Muirhead have both had a hand in its design and so the layout is exceptional.  It has changed hands and its name serval times and it continues to suffer from a lack of investment and so the maintenance and facilities do not match the excellence of its design.  is a real country golf course. Named Ban Chang initially and then Rayong Century Golf Club the course. The Emerald Golf Club is one of the lesser-known Pattaya golf courses.

The name is very apt and during the summer months the course is green and lush, and the fairways are lined by the natural rainforest with many mature trees which still support an abundance of wildlife.  The gently undulating fairways, the raised greens and the cleverly placed water hazards and bunkers combine  to make the Emerald one the most difficult golf courses in Pattaya.  Some excellent par-3’s but they are all very challenging. Unlike many of the other modern golf courses, accuracy off the tee is preferred over distance as the rough and deep jungle lies in wait for the errant shot.

The small mainly open-air clubhouse and other facilities are fairly basic, but the food is excellent and the service friendly and attentive. One advantage of playing at Emerald is its proximity to the town of Ban Chang which has a night life which is wilder than anything that can be found in Pattaya!

Emerald Golf Club

Completely satisfied with all aspects.

Not long but challenging layout (Nick Faldo Designed I believe. Front office staff, from bag drop, check-in, locker room etc know what they're doing are are pro-active. Caddies were excellent. Greens in great shape , not too fast. Pace of play was fine. No Complaints. Highly recommend for expats and tourists. Only 35 mins from Pattaya. And GolfSavers price was very reasonable and the vouchers were clearly accepted with no chatter from the starter. Thanks to all!

Would be an excellent course should it be better maintained.

Golf course is challenging with narrow and natural up and down landscapes of fairways. I am happy with my game as I enjoyed the course which is designed using the hill landscapes.

Emerald Golf Club

An excellent but tough layout in need of care and attention

Reviewed by ; on
You must travel a bit further to reach this course and it has the potential to be a great track but falls short due to poor maintenance. Good practice range and the condition of the tees were OK. Most of the fairways have been encroached by the rampant broad leaf “cow” grass which does not help ball striking. Greens are in good condition and in dry weather very fast and very challenging for high handicappers. Very basic clubhouse and locker rooms but they do at least provide hot showers and the food is acceptable and the staff are very polite. Standard of caddies varies and some of the less experienced ones are purely bag carriers. The buggies are very old and frequently break down and often have trouble negotiating the uphill sections.
