Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi (previously Soi Dao Highland) is a country golf course off the beaten track from Thailand's main tourist areas. The 18-hole Soi Dao Chanthaburi Chatrium Golf Resort is situated in Khao Soi Dao Mountains and near to the Cambodian border. Moving from Pattaya or Bangkok to the golf course takes about 2 hours.
The course is surrounded by woodland, hardwood native trees, creeks, and lakes. The weather is perfect as far away from developed areas with bright blue skies and cool temperatures for most days.
Though the surrounding terrain is rugged, the course is flattish for the most part. Soi Dao offers more often than not foundations for those who are looking for a calming round in a natural setting, as opposed to the artificial championship course.
Hole 3 is a signature hole of the Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi, a 206 yard par-3 which plays over a large lake. Take an extra club to be sure of bringing the lake and there's a simple par in store. Certain nice holes include the 9th and 13th. Both are long par-4's of 400 + yard that play into a prevailing wind. Parsing here needs long drives and second shots. If not, reach on in 3 and try one putt. The result will be anyway the same.
Practice facilities include a driving range and two chipping and putting greens. After the 4th and 12th holes, the golf course features halfway kiosks. The on-site resort is a good choice for those looking to get away from it all, for an overnight stay, although there is nothing in the immediate area. Golf is probably the best option, followed by an early evening to bed and a second round the next morning.
